Year 11 Semester 1 Evidence and Reflections:
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various abilities and skills, of which some are more developed than others.

Through my participation in music, I have been able to strengthen my individual skills that can then be used in ensembles. I have a clear tone although I have been focusing my embouchure as it impacts both my sound and fluidity between registers. The 'perfect' embouchure will allow me to pursue more challenging pieces that require stable fingers that come as a result of this embouchure position.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process . A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing one. The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established area.

I generally play the clarinet as a soloist although in this semester I have undertaken a duet with another student, Laura. Duets require us to respond to each other and connect in terms of pitch, tone and sound quality. Maintaining rhythm and tempo is an important aspect of music in general, and of course in clarinet. This is an aspect I struggle in although through these duet rehearsals, I have been able to improve my consistency in rhythm.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in CAS.

I have an hour lesson every week with my teacher, Sam Kelson Gray, as well as Senior Clarinet Ensemble during Thursday lunch time and duet rehearsal on a Tuesday morning. This schedule has been in place for over 2 years and I plan to continue all these commitments for clarinet.
