Dance:
Year 11 Semester 1 Evidence:

LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various abilities and skills, of which some are more developed than others.

Dance is similar to other activities, whereby there are always areas to improve in. I am strong in Allegro, Adage and Pirouettes, however pointe-work is an area in which I am constantly working on as it is not as strong as others. I regularly do strengthening and individual practice on pointe in order to improve.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing one. The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established area.

Dance requires a lot of rehearsals for a performance, and performing is definitely a challenge as you need to be able to perform with energy unlike technical classes. Performances are challenging as they are exhausting due to the intensity and length of the pieces. During this semester, I took part in the school's rendition of Midsummer Night's Dream (seen below) which had 4 consecutive evening performances.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in CAS.

I have and continued to demonstrate commitment as for the past 3 years I have attended classes at least 3 times a week. I also rehearse numerous dances during lunch at school.

Year 11 Semester 2 Evidence:
1st August: Rehearsal during lunch at school
18th June: Midsummer Night's Dream Performance Excerpt
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various abilities and skills, of which some are more developed than others.

My strengths in dance are my upper body control and my stamina however the areas in which I need to develop for growth are my foot strength (which helps me in pointe work), fully extending my legs and having a relaxed face in pirouettes.

The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established area.

As it is important to maintain stamina in order to perform at the best of your ability, the holidays can be tough in keeping/improving fitness hence developing my personal skill of self determination and perseverance.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences. Students demonstrate regular involvement and active engagement in CAS.

I have demonstrated commitment and perseverance in CAS through my attendance at dance classes at least 3 times a week outside of school as well as rehearsals at school.

Year 12 Semester 1 Evidence:
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth. Students are able to see themselves as individuals with various abilities and skills, of which some are more developed than others.

My strengths in dance are my lines and having neat technical work, however, areas that require improvement are my core and foot strength as once these areas have been strengthened, I can then perform harder moves and look more stable.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process. A new challenge may be an unfamiliar experience or an extension of an existing one. The newly acquired or developed skills may be shown through experiences that the student has not previously undertaken or through increased expertise in an established area.

I was quite sick and then had whooping cough for a couple of weeks, thus making it difficult to maintain my regular routine of attending classes and practicing in my own time. As a result of this, I had to make an effort to do as much as I could at home so that I would not lose stamina and strength. For example, every night I did a 15 minute workout on my floor in my bedroom which included abs, leg, and arm exercises. Hence, I developed new skills in strengthening as well as perseverance and determination.
